Becán

Trail description

A flat 1.1 km walk from the Escarcega to Chetumal highway into the Maya city of Becan in Calakmul, Campeche. Becan is named after its most unusual feature, a moat with a rampart that surrounds the whole centre, built between about 100 and 250 AD. Its buildings are in the Rio Bec style, with twin false towers and monster-mouth doorways.
