Le Morne Brabant

Trail description

A 3.1 km climb up Le Morne Brabant, the basalt monolith at the southwest tip of Mauritius and a UNESCO World Heritage site that stands for the resistance of escaped slaves. A forest track zigzags up the flank of the mountain to the North Viewpoint on its shoulder, with views over the turquoise lagoon and the reef. The final section to the cross on the summit plateau is an exposed scramble where rangers may turn back hikers without a guide, and is not part of this walk.
