Trail description
This traverse crosses the Barouk ridge of the Shouf Cedar Biosphere Reserve from the Barouk cedar forest on the western side down to old Ammiq village above the Ammiq wetland in the Bekaa. It climbs through the cedars to the bare crest, then descends the eastern flank past water sources and pine forest with wide views over the Bekaa and the swamp below. Guided versions of this hike run 10 to 15 km with about 900 m of height difference between the cedars and the wetland, and can be extended on to the wetland itself. It follows forest tracks and paths almost all the way.
