Bolshoy Shymbulak Waterfall in Uzyn-Karagaly Gorge

Trail description

The trail winds through a picturesque gorge, green slopes, and a mountain river, gradually leading to an impressive waterfall hidden among sheer cliffs. It is an easy and very atmospheric route: about 4 km one way, with fresh mountain air, the sound of rushing water, and stunning views at every turn. A great idea for a short hike if you want to escape the city and spend a few hours in nature. Be sure to bring your ID, cash (the entrance fee was 4000 KZT), and download offline maps. As you approach the waterfall, you will need to cross the river via a ford – I recommend bringing aqua shoes or sandals. You can go for a swim right at the waterfall.
