Ущелье Саура

Trail description

A 1.1 km walk on tracks from the Saura locality into the Saura gorge on the Mangystau coast of the Caspian, about 100 km by car from Aktau. A river that once flowed here fell as a waterfall and cut the gorge, and at its foot lies a lake 5 to 10 m deep, ringed by rounded rock walls about 50 m high. Relict freshwater turtles live in the lake, and tamarisk grows in the green oasis around it.
