Trail description

A 4.1 km climb of about 520 m on the Kim-Asar to Butakovsky pass path, from the upper Kim-Asar gorge past a campsite to the Butakovsky pass at 2,880 m in the Trans-Ili Alatau above Almaty. The pass is non-categorised and links the Kim-Asar and Butakovka gorges with the Left Talgar valley; from Kim-Asar the climb is gradual, while the Butakovka side is shorter but much steeper. On the far side the trail, grassy at first and then increasingly rocky, drops about 4 km to the KazPI meadow in the Left Talgar gorge.
