Trail description
A 1.1 km walk on the dirt road through Altyn-Emel National Park to the near lava hills of the Katutau mountains, whose name means harsh mountains. The range, rising to 1,720 m in the east of the park, was built by the lava of two large volcanoes, mostly Permian rhyolites, andesites, basalts and tuffs. Its southeastern foothills are known as the Tiger Mountains for the striped colour of their clays.
