Trail description

A 3.6 km climb of about 560 m to the summit of Takachiho-no-mine, 1,573 m, in the Kirishima volcano group on the border of Kagoshima and Miyazaki prefectures. The peak is sacred in Japan's national foundation mythology. The Kirishima volcanoes have erupted many times since 742, with very strong eruptions in 788, 1716 and 1717.
