Trail description

Tateshina, 2,531 m, is the northernmost peak of the Yatsugatake range and one of Japan's 100 famous mountains, also called Suwa Fuji for its cone. This route climbs from the 7th station, where the torii of Tateshina Shrine stands, past Shogundaira to the summit. The top is a broad field of lava blocks with no trees and a 360 degree view of Yatsugatake, Asama, Kirigamine and the Northern Alps. The inner shrine of Tateshina Shrine stands on the summit.
