Trail description
Makuyama, 626 m, is a lava dome on the southeastern flank of the Hakone volcano in Yugawara, formed about 150,000 years ago. This route climbs from the Makuyama Park plum grove, with about 4,000 trees, on a forest road and path to the summit. Its name, curtain, comes from the walls of columnar basalt around its flanks, used today by rock climbers. The top looks over Yugawara, the Manazuru peninsula and Sagami Bay.
