Trail description
From the Zao Katta car park at the top of the Zao toll road the walk follows the crater rim above the emerald Okama crater lake and the Umanose ridge to Kumanodake (1,841 m), the highest point of the Zao mountains, with a small shrine on top. The volcano is active and the area closes when the alert level rises; in fog the broad ridge is easy to lose.
