Trail description
A 4.6 km climb of about 460 m from Makinoto Pass over Kutsukake-yama and past the Kuju refuge hut to the summit of Kuju-san, 1,787 m. The Kuju range is a group of about a dozen volcanoes in Aso-Kuju National Park in Oita; its highest peak, Nakadake, reaches 1,791 m. Mount Kuju is one of the 100 Famous Japanese Mountains.
