Trail description
A 5.3 km climb of about 780 m from the Chihaya side to the summit area of Mount Kongo, 1,125 m, on the border of Osaka and Nara prefectures. The route climbs the Kurotoga valley path and higher valley routes, joins the Chihaya Hondo trail near the top and reaches Tenporin-ji temple, said to have been founded by En no Gyoja, and Katsuragi Shrine. The Mount Kongo Ropeway closed in 2022, so the way down is on foot.
