Trail description

Kitayokodake, about 2,480 m, is an active lava dome in Northern Yatsugatake that last erupted around 800 years ago. This route climbs from the north past the Kikkoike pond to the summit, which has south and north peaks. The top rises just above the treeline into a belt of creeping pine. The Kita-Yatsugatake ropeway from the Pilatus Tateshina resort reaches the Tsuboniwa lava field on the other side of the mountain.
