Trail description
A 3.6 km climb of about 270 m from Motomachi in Hakodate up the old mountain path, past the marked stations and the Gotenyama gun battery ruins, to the top of Mount Hakodate. The inactive volcano was once an island, joined to Hokkaido about 3,000 years ago by a sandbar where the city now stands. The view over the bay and city has three stars in the Michelin Green Guide.
