Trail description

Fuppushidake, 1,102 m, is a volcano on the south side of Lake Shikotsu in Chitose, older and more eroded than its neighbours Tarumae and Eniwa. This route climbs from the north side to the summit. The name comes from the Ainu for place of the Sakhalin fir; the forest of firs was largely flattened by the 1954 Toyamaru typhoon. Narrow gorges such as the moss-covered Koke no Domon cut its lower slopes.
