Trail description

A 2.6 km walk with about 230 m of climbing from Mamiya-dake past the Ura-Asahi camp site and the Jigokudani crater to the 2,291 m summit of Asahi-dake, the highest mountain in Hokkaido. The stratovolcano belongs to the Daisetsuzan group in Daisetsuzan National Park. Its Ainu name, Kamui-mintara, means the playground of the gods.
