Jigokudani Monkey Park

Trail description

A 1.7 km forest walk with about 140 m of climbing on the Yudo path between the Jigokudani Monkey Park by the Yokoyu River and the slopes to the west. The park, at 850 m in Joshinetsu Kogen National Park, is reached only on foot through the forest. Wild Japanese macaques, the snow monkeys, come down to its hot spring pools in winter, when snow covers the ground for about four months.
