Trail description
The walk starts in Varigotti, climbs the Via San Lorenzo path and the Baia dei Saraceni - Semaforo Capo Noli path onto the Capo Noli plateau, takes a spur to the Grotta dei Falsari, a cave on the headland, and descends to Noli. Noli was the capital of the Republic of Noli from 1192 to 1797. Dante used the steep way down into the town, 'discendesi in Noli', in canto IV of the Purgatorio as a yardstick for the harsh first climb of Antepurgatory. The walk is about 6.3 km one way, with some 345 m of climbing.
