Trail description

The walk starts in the hamlet of Treccione, above the western shore of Lake Como, and climbs through Carcente and Breglia to the houses of the Monti di Breglia, then on to the Rifugio Menaggio at 1,383 m. The hut stands on a panoramic knoll at the foot of the south faces of Monte Grona (1,736 m), with views over Lake Como and the surrounding mountains. Members of the CAI Menaggio section began building it in 1952; it was inaugurated in 1960 and enlarged in 1970. The walk is about 5.8 km one way, with some 745 m of climbing.
