A long, high climb from Franscia in the Valmalenco past the Rifugio Carate Brianza to the Rifugio Marinelli Bombardieri at 2,813 m, below the Bernina glaciers. The upper part crosses rocky ground at high altitude, where snow can lie into summer. Return the same way.
