A 4.5 km climb of about 790 m from Villair above Courmayeur through larch woods to the Rifugio Bertone at about 1,980 m, on the Tour du Mont Blanc. The hut looks straight across the Val Ferret to the Grandes Jorasses and Mont Blanc. The first part follows a narrow road.
