From the road just below the Passo di Monte Croce Carnico, a path climbs through First World War positions to the summit of the Pal Piccolo at 1,867 m, on the Austrian border. Trenches, caves and old battle positions line the way, and the front line here is kept as an open-air museum. Walk back the same way.
