Monte Cimone

Trail description

A 1.6 km climb of about 300 m from near Pian Cavallaro to the summit of Monte Cimone, at 2,165 m the highest mountain of the northern Apennines, in the Alto Appennino Modenese regional park. The summit holds an Italian Air Force meteorological station and the CNR's Ottavio Vittori atmospheric observatory. The Pian Cavallaro refuge at about 1,880 m is a common resting point.
