Trail description

A 5.1 km climb of about 785 m from Campo Imperatore by the normal route to the Vetta Occidentale of the Corno Grande, at 2,912 m the highest summit of the Apennines. The route passes the Sella di Monte Aquila and the Conca degli Invalidi; the last part is steep and rocky with easy scrambling where hands are needed. Start early: storms build quickly on the Gran Sasso.
