Trail description
The Montpelier Loop starts at the Hell Fire Club car park on the R115 above Rathfarnham and climbs through forest to the ruined hunting lodge on the summit of Montpelier Hill, 383 metres high. The lodge was built around 1725 for William Conolly using stones from a Neolithic passage tomb on the summit. Coillte lists the loop at 4 km, with wide views over Dublin city and Dublin Bay.
