Trail description
The Coumlara Loop starts at the Nire Valley car park near Ballymacarbry and follows sand road, tracks and mountain terrain into the lower Comeragh Mountains, crossing the Nire River and a stream flowing from Coumlara. It passes the shoulder of Carrignagower to reach The Gap, then returns along a mountain track. Sport Ireland grades the 6.6 km loop strenuous; it closes one day each December by landowner agreement.
