Trail description

A climb to Benbaun (729 m), the highest of the Twelve Bens and the highest point in County Galway, from the north. A lane off the R344 at Kylemore and a farm track lead up the Glencorbet valley, then an informal hill path climbs the steep north slope of Benbaun to the quartzite summit at the centre of the range. It is a hard ascent of about 690 m on rough ground with little shelter.
