Víti from Drekagil (Askja)

Trail description

From the Drekagil hut on the edge of the Dyngjufjöll a marked path climbs over the mountains and crosses the Askja caldera to Víti, a crater with a milky blue lake beside the large lake Öskjuvatn. Askja is reached only on highland roads that need a 4x4 and open in summer, and the weather on the pass can turn wintry at any time.
