Trail description

A 2.4 km walk up the lower Vestdalur valley from the fjord shore at Vestdalseyri above Seydisfjordur, climbing about 115 m past the first of the valley's many waterfalls. Vestdalur is a protected nature reserve for its flora, and the old route through it was one of the most used paths in East Iceland between 1880 and 1910. Higher up the same trail continues past more tiers of falls to the small lake Vestdalsvatn, which stays frozen much of the year.
