Sandafell Þingeyri

Trail description

A 4 km climb of about 330 m from Thingeyri to the top of Sandafell, 367 m, above Dyrafjordur in the Westfjords. Thingeyri, continuously inhabited since 1787, is one of the oldest settlements in the Westfjords and was its first trading post. Its name is thought to come from a medieval assembly, and ruins of a booth used by assembly visitors remain.
