Trail description
A flat 2.3 km walk along the beach of Rauðisandur, the red sand, on the south coast of the Westfjords, passing the Stakkavatn lagoon. Rauðisandur is a remote coastal area in the old county of Vestur-Barðastrandarsýsla. At its eastern end stands Sjöundá, a deserted farm where a double murder in 1802 inspired Gunnar Gunnarsson's novel Svartfugl.
