Hverfjall Crater Rim

Trail description

A 2.6 km loop on the rim of Hverfjall, the tephra cone east of Mývatn. It erupted about 2,500 years ago in the south of the Krafla fissure swarm, and its crater is about 1 km across. A landslide during the eruption broke the round shape of the cone on its south side.
