Trail description
A 3.8 km loop with about 50 m of climbing among the Hljóðaklettar, the echo rocks of Vesturdalur in the Jökulsárgljúfur canyon, passing the cave called Kirkjan (the church). The rocks are the remains of craters on a fissure that was active about 11,000 years ago and crossed the Jökulsá á Fjöllum. The river destroyed the craters and left their dikes, volcanic plugs and twisted basalt columns standing.
