Trail description
A 1.5 km walk through Hallormsstadaskogur on the east shore of Lake Lagarfljot near Egilsstadir, Iceland's largest national forest, with about 50 m of climbing. The 740-hectare forest is mostly native birch, protected since 1905, and holds an arboretum with about 80 tree species from around the world. Some 40 km of marked trails and campsites at Atlavik on the lake shore make it a popular summer retreat.
