Trail description
A 1.2 km walk with about 35 m of climbing past the smaller Geitafoss to Goðafoss on the Skjálfandafljót in north Iceland. The river falls 12 m over a width of 30 m, beside the ring road at the Sprengisandur junction, about 45 minutes from Akureyri. Legend says the lawspeaker Þorgeir threw his statues of the Norse gods into the falls after Iceland adopted Christianity around the year 1000.
