Trail description
This short stroll leads from the car park at Glaumbær in Skagafjörður around the preserved turf farmhouse, now a folk museum of the Skagafjörður Heritage Museum, to the church beside it. The farmhouse is a row of 13 interconnected turf buildings and two timber houses, most of them built between the mid-18th century and 1879, and people lived in it until 1947. A farm has stood here since the settlement era, the sagas say the first church at Glaumbær was built around the year 1000, and the present church dates from 1926. Entry to the turf houses needs a museum ticket.
