Djúpalónssandur Beach Walk

Trail description

A 0.7 km path through the lava past the Djúpalón ponds and the old Aflraunasteinar lifting stones down to the beach of Djúpalónssandur. The black sand and pebble beach lies on the south coast of Snæfellsnes inside Snæfellsjökull National Park, framed by jagged lava, cliffs and sea stacks. Its smooth black pebbles, polished by the surf, are known as the pearls of Djúpalón.
