Trail description
A flat 1.3 km walk through the old centre of Borgarnes, passing Skallagrimsgardur, the small public park that holds the burial mound of Skalla-Grimur Kveldulfsson, father of the saga hero Egill. The inscription on the mound says that Skalla-Grimur and Bodvar, Egill's son, were buried here, and a relief beside it shows Egill bringing his drowned son to the spot. Brakarey island, reached by a bridge, is named after Thorgerdur Brak from the same saga.
