Trail description

A flat 1 km walk through low woodland to Botnstjorn, the small pond at the foot of the inner cliffs of Asbyrgi in the north of Vatnajokull National Park. The horseshoe canyon is about 3.5 km long with walls up to 100 m high; it was carved by catastrophic glacial floods, while legend says it is the hoof print of Odin's eight-legged horse Sleipnir. This is the easiest walk in Asbyrgi and suits limited mobility.
