Megyer-hegyi Tengerszem

Trail description

This short climb follows the red cross marks from the old school in Sárospatak to the Megyer-hegyi tengerszem, a rainwater lake in a former millstone quarry on the 324 m Megyer-hegy. Millstones were cut from the hard rhyolite tuff here from the 15th century until 1907, and half-finished stones still lie in the quarry yard. The path is steep, but railings secure the views from the rim of the cliffs, which rise up to 70 m above the water.
