Trail description

A 1.1 km walk down the RV-700 road from the northern edge of La Campa into the village and through its streets to the church beside the town hall. La Campa is a small town and municipality in the department of Lempira, about 16 km from Gracias, set on a hillside in a deep river valley below rocky hills covered in pine. Most of its people are of Lenca descent, and the town is known for red-glazed Lenca pottery, much of it made in the villages on the hills above. Its large 18th-century church is the main sight, and the patronal fiesta of San Matías runs from 15 to 28 February.
