Trail description

This loop runs under tall rainforest trees around Grand Etang, the largest lake in the Basse-Terre massif, formed more than 10,000 years ago in a hollow between lava flows, with twenty discovery markers on geology, plants, wildlife and heritage. It starts from the unsupervised Parking des Etangs on the steep RD4 road toward the Chutes du Carbet and is good for birdwatching. The lake level can vary by several metres with rainfall.
