Mount Smolikas from Samarina

Trail description

A long ridge route from the village of Samarina to the summit of Smolikas at 2,637 m. The trail climbs from about 1,450 m and follows a ridge that repeatedly rises and falls, so the total ascent is larger than the height difference. The lower part is waymarked, while the alpine section relies on metal poles that can be hard to see in cloud. Water is scarce above the treeline and snow can linger into early summer.
