Mount Fengari (Saos) from Therma (Samothraki)

Trail description

Fengari, also called Saos, is the highest mountain of Samothraki at 1,611 m, and in legend Poseidon watched the Trojan War from its peak. The easiest way to the summit is from the village of Therma on the north side of the island. Near the summit the path becomes extremely rocky, and red spray paint marks help keep hikers on track. In summer the top is often in cloud and mist, but on clear days the view stretches from the Troad in the east to Mount Athos in the west.
