Trail description

Attavyros, about 1,215 m, is the highest mountain on Rhodes and rises just south of the village of Embonas. This loop leaves the village and climbs very steeply to the summit, where there are ruins of a temple of Zeus and a modern watchtower, with a view over the whole island, the nearby islands and the Turkish coast. The path is marked with red dots but unclear in places, there is shade only on the first 1.5 km, and it should be avoided when the ground is wet. Allow 3 to 5 hours and carry plenty of water.
