Trail description

A climb from the village of Digaleto to Megas Soros, at 1,628 m the highest summit of Mount Ainos and of all the Ionian Islands. Ainos became a national park in 1962 to protect its forests of the endemic Kefalonian fir, which the forest trail crosses on the way up. The route is one of the five marked trails of the park. From the top the view takes in the whole of Kefalonia, the Ionian Sea, Zakynthos and the mainland to the east.
