Trail description

A demanding official route that climbs from sea level at Kokkari to Lazaros peak, 1,025 m, on the north side of Mount Karvounis. The path rises through green slopes, rocky ground and small plateaus, crosses the road at the 16th-century Vronda monastery and continues through mountain vineyards and pine forest to the bare, rocky summit with a wide view. It is about 9 km one way with around 1,000 m of ascent and takes 3.5 to 4 hours up. There is a fountain near the peak, but carry plenty of water on hot days.
