Kaliakouda Summit from Megalo Chorio

Trail description

Kaliakouda, at 2,101 m, is a mountain of Evrytania between Vardousia, Tymfristos and Panaitoliko. The waymarked trail climbs from the village of Megalo Chorio, 14 km from Karpenisi, through dense fir forest to the Kaliakouda refuge in about two hours, crossing the dirt road several times. From the refuge the last hour to the summit is steeper, with an exposed drop on one side, and the top has wide views over the surrounding mountains. In winter snow equipment is needed.
