Trail description

A climb from Palaiochori, about 16 km from Goumenissa, to Gola Tsouka, the 1,650 m summit of Mount Paiko on the border of Pella and Kilkis. Paiko holds the largest chestnut forest in Greece, and the path climbs from chestnut into beech woods. The name Gola Tsouka comes from a Slavic word for bald, as the top is bare of trees. It is especially popular for its autumn colours.
